- THE DOOR - Each and every door from my shop is made personally and individually using traditional woodworking methods that have been handed down from craftsman to craftsman for hundreds of years. Your door will be made with mortise-and-tenon construction, the way things used to be made, when they were built to last. Mass-produced doors, which are made with dowel construction, may take machines only a few minutes to make but they last accordingly.
- THE MATERIALS - All my doors are made with Vertical Grain Fir wood, which is in demand all over the world and grows abundantly in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. This high-quality wood has been specially milled from the log to resist warping, cupping, and twisting, making it an ideal material for doors. *Other types of wood are available by special order.
The screen I use is very heavy gauge coated polyester designed especially to stand up to pets, (but it also works well for teenagers, bicycles, newspapers, and toy trucks). After years of searching for a solution to frequent screen damage problems I can say I've finally found a screen material that is "almost" indestructible. I staple the screen directly to the wood using stainless-steel staples and pins so no rust stains will leach down your door in the years to come.
